Cristiano Ronaldo’s eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Júnior, has received his first call-up to Portugal’s Under-17 national team.
The 16-year-old Al Nassr academy forward has been named in Filipe Ramos’ 23-man squad for next month’s European Championship qualifying matches. Ronaldo Jr. has previously represented Portugal at Under-15 and Under-16 level.
Portugal will host Andorra on 11 November, Bulgaria on 14 November and Serbia on 17 November, with all three fixtures taking place in Lisbon.
There is a chance the teenager could cross paths with his father at the national team training base. Cristiano Ronaldo is eligible for selection in Jorge Jesus’ senior squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Denmark (14 November) and Wales (17 November). However, the 41-year-old is currently serving a 30-day suspension imposed by the Portuguese Football Federation after walking out on the national team during last month’s Nations League campaign.
Ronaldo remains the all-time leading scorer in men’s international football with 143 goals in 225 appearances.
