President Bola Tinubu has officially launched the HOPE-EDU programme, a $552 million education initiative designed to improve basic education across Nigeria. The programme is supported by the World Bank and the Global Partnership for Education.
The Federal Government says the project will benefit about 29 million pupils, more than 500,000 teachers, over 65,000 public schools, and thousands of learning centres across the country. The goal is to improve learning, upgrade school facilities, and strengthen the education system.
Speaking during the launch in Abuja, President Tinubu said education remains one of the country’s most important investments. He added that every Nigerian child deserves access to quality learning regardless of where they live.
Many education stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, saying it could help address challenges facing public schools if it is properly implemented. Nigerians will now be watching to see how the programme is rolled out across the country.
