Kano Pillars Appoint Daniel Ogunmodede As New Technical Adviser

Kano Pillars Football Club have appointed Daniel Ogunmodede as their new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday in Kano by the club's Media Director, Isma'eel Tangalashi.

Popularly known as "Ijaball," Ogunmodede will take charge of the club's technical affairs as preparations gather momentum for the new NPFL campaign.

Club Targets Return To The Top

According to the statement, the appointment is part of an ongoing restructuring aimed at strengthening the club's technical crew and improving the team's overall performance.

The club said the move is designed to reposition Kano Pillars as one of Nigeria's top football clubs and enhance its competitiveness in both domestic and continental competitions.

The statement described Ogunmodede's arrival as a significant step towards restoring the club's status as a major contender in the NPFL.

Ogunmodede Replaces Babaganaru

The former Remo Stars head coach takes over from Muhammad Babaganaru, who previously led the Sai Masu Gida.

Kano Pillars endured a disappointing 2025/2026 campaign, finishing 15th on the NPFL table with 48 points from 38 matches.

The club will be hoping Ogunmodede's experience and tactical approach can inspire a stronger performance in the upcoming season.

Daniel Daga Cleared Of Sexual Assault Charge In Norway

In a separate development, former Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has been cleared of sexual assault allegations by Norway's Frostating Court of Appeal, ending a legal battle that sidelined him for almost 11 months.

The 19-year-old Nigerian midfielder is now expected to resume his career with Norwegian side Molde, after the club confirmed he is available for selection pending the release of the court's final written judgment.

In a statement released on Thursday, Molde acknowledged the Court of Appeal's ruling and described the past months as a difficult period for everyone involved.

"We have today received information about the Court of Appeal's ruling. This has been a demanding period for everyone involved, and we want to approach it with respect and consideration for everyone who has been affected," Molde CEO Vegard Storvik said.

Daga had earlier been convicted by the Romsdal District Court, which sentenced him to six months' imprisonment after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a woman and ordered him to pay NOK 10,000 in legal costs.

However, the Frostating Court of Appeal has now overturned that verdict, acquitting the Nigerian youngster of the charge.

Following the judgment, Molde confirmed that Daga will be reintegrated into the first-team squad as he looks to revive his football career after months away from competitive action.
