Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed reports claiming he has defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the allegations as false and politically motivated.
Ganduje insisted that he remains a loyal member of the ruling APC, stressing that there is no truth to the speculation surrounding his alleged exit from the party.
The former Kano State governor made the clarification in a statement issued on his behalf by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba.
According to the statement, posters circulating on social media suggesting that Ganduje had joined the NDC were fabricated as part of a calculated attempt to mislead the public.
"The claims were part of a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public, creating confusion among APC supporters, and generating unnecessary political speculation," the statement read.
Ganduje maintained that the APC remains Nigeria's largest political party and continues to attract more supporters under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to working with the party's leadership in advancing the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
The former APC National Chairman further disclosed that those responsible for producing and circulating the alleged defection posters had been identified.
He warned that legal action would be taken against those involved if the posters were not withdrawn and the circulation of the claims did not stop immediately.
Ganduje, therefore, urged APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard the reports, insisting that the posters do not reflect his political position or future intentions.
