The Federal Government has launched a new consumer credit initiative aimed at making laptops, smartphones, tablets, and other digital devices more accessible to Nigerians through flexible payment plans.
The initiative, known as the Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, allows eligible Nigerians to acquire digital devices immediately and repay the cost over an agreed period instead of paying the full amount upfront.
The programme is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
FG Unveils C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme
The scheme was officially launched on Tuesday in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, alongside the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Uzoma Nwagba.
According to the Federal Government, the initiative is designed to improve access to digital tools for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven careers while supporting Nigeria's digital economy.
The first phase of the programme will prioritize locally assembled laptops, a move aimed at boosting local manufacturing and strengthening the country's technology ecosystem.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants can indicate interest in obtaining any of the following devices:
- Laptop
- Smartphone
- Tablet
- Other digital devices
They will also be required to state the purpose for requesting the device. Available options include:
- Learning and professional certifications
- School activities
- Work and remote work
- Freelancing
- Business expansion
- Software development
- Content creation
How to Apply for the C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme
Interested Nigerians can apply by visiting the official C.L.I.C.K.D. application portal and clicking the "I'm Interested" button to complete the registration form.
Applicants will be required to provide details including:
- State of residence
- Employment status (employed, freelancer, self-employed, business owner, student, job seeker or NYSC member)
- Monthly income (optional)
- Membership of any digital talent programme
- Preferred digital device
- Reason for requesting the device
- How they heard about the programme
Before submitting the application, applicants must:
- Confirm that the information provided is accurate.
- Agree to be contacted regarding their application.
- Consent to CREDICORP and its partners using their information to assess eligibility.
First Phase Targets 3MTT Fellows
CREDICORP disclosed that the pilot phase will involve the distribution of 1,000 laptops, with the initial beneficiaries drawn from the Federal Government's Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme.
Speaking during the launch, CREDICORP Managing Director, Uzoma Nwagba, revealed that 77 beneficiaries in Abuja had already received their laptops, while additional devices would be distributed across other states in phases.
He noted that the phased rollout mirrors the strategy used when CREDICORP launched its nationwide consumer credit programme in April 2024, which initially targeted federal civil servants before expanding to more Nigerians.
Other Digital Talent Programmes Included
Although the pilot currently focuses on 3MTT fellows, the application portal also lists several other digital training programmes, including:
- Andela Learning Community
- Learn2Earn
- ALX Africa
- HNG Internship
- AltSchool Africa
- Genesys Tech Hub
The presence of these programmes on the application form suggests participants may be able to express interest. However, CREDICORP has not officially confirmed whether members of these programmes will be included in the current pilot phase.
Repayment Details Yet to Be Announced
While applications are now open, CREDICORP is yet to disclose the financial terms of the credit facility.

The Federal Government is expected to provide further information as the programme expands nationwide.
