The Federal Government has begun another round of student loan disbursements through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). The scheme is aimed at helping eligible students in public tertiary institutions pay their tuition and continue their education without financial difficulties.
According to NELFUND, the latest phase covers students whose applications were successfully verified. The agency said payments are being made directly to approved institutions, while upkeep allowances are being paid into students’ bank accounts.
Government officials said the student loan programme is part of efforts to make higher education more accessible to Nigerians. They encouraged eligible students who have not yet applied to complete their registration through the official application process.
Many students have welcomed the latest disbursement, saying the financial support will ease the burden of paying school fees. The Federal Government has assured beneficiaries that the programme will continue to expand as more applications are processed
