A commercial tricycle rider has reportedly lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters during a heavy downpour in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred in front of Zenith Bank at Ogbo Plastic, Onitsha, where rising floodwaters carried the rider into a large drainage channel. Eyewitnesses said efforts to save him were unsuccessful as the force of the water swept him away.
According to reports circulating online, the victim’s body was later recovered from the drainage system. Residents are now appealing to members of the public who may know the deceased to come forward and help identify him so that his family can be notified.
The incident has sparked renewed concerns over the dangers of flooding and exposed drainage channels during the rainy season in Onitsha and other parts of the country.
