The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has revealed that at least 484 people, including 271 children, have been displaced following a fresh bandit attack in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to the IOM, the attack occurred on June 15, 2026, forcing 101 households to flee their homes in search of safety. The report noted that women and children make up the majority of those affected by the violence.
The displaced families are currently in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, including food, shelter, clean water, healthcare, and other essential supplies. Humanitarian agencies have expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the North-West, where repeated attacks continue to force thousands of residents from their communities.
The latest incident adds to the growing humanitarian crisis in Zamfara State, as insecurity continues to disrupt livelihoods and leave many families dependent on emergency aid.
