The streets of Aba lit up with excitement on Wednesday as Hon. Christopher Igboko Okoroafor, renowned businessman and philanthropist, formally entered the race for the Aba South/North Federal Constituency seat under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Okoroafor picked up the party’s 2026 Expression of Interest form for the 2027 general elections, a move that drew crowds of supporters and party loyalists who described it as a game-changer for the NDC’s push to reclaim the constituency from the Labour Party.
A native of Ugwuoke in Bende LGA, Okoroafor has lived and built his career in Aba for decades. He said his deep ties to the city’s markets, wards, and communities give him an unmatched grasp of the day-to-day challenges residents face.
As Managing Director/CEO of ONE WITH GOD VISION LOGISTICS SERVICES NIG. LTD., and a financial member of the NDC in Aba South Ward 12, Okoroafor has remained active at the grassroots level. Party members credit his consistent philanthropic work and hands-on engagement with why his candidacy is gaining early traction.
“People across Aba Central know him personally, trust him, and are ready to rally behind him,” a party insider noted. “His politics is people-first, and that’s why his entry has created real hope on the ground.”
According to his campaign team, Okoroafor is the only NDC aspirant for Aba South/North to have secured the Expression of Interest form so far. Two influential grassroots movements, the Royal Ambassadors Family Support Group for Obi/Kwakwanso Movement 2027 and the Village to Villa Ambassadors Movement 2027 have already pledged full-scale mobilization to back his bid.
The team expressed confidence that with Okoroafor’s structure and network, the NDC is well-positioned to unseat the incumbent and outperform candidates from the APC and ADC in the constituency.
Supporters are now calling on the NDC national leadership to recognize his track record and grassroots appeal during the selection and primary process, arguing that his popularity and community roots give the party its strongest chance of victory.
Okoroafor is married with seven children, including two medical doctors and one engineer.
