Rights Group Tackles Delta Govt Over Silence On Otolokpo Monarch Domestic Violence Allegation (Full Details)

The Young Nigerian Rights Organization has issued a strong-worded press statement demanding that the Delta State Government break its silence over an alleged domestic violence incident involving the traditional ruler of Otolokpo in Ika North East Local Government Area.

In an open letter dated March 10, 2026, and signed by its leader, Victor Ojei, popularly known as Wong Box Nigeria, the group condemned what it described as “continued silence and inaction” by the state government weeks after the alleged incident, said to have occurred on February 23, 2026.

According to the organization, domestic violence is a serious human rights violation that must never be ignored, particularly when the allegations involve individuals in positions of authority.

Group Demands Immediate Action

The rights group called on the Delta State Government to:

  • Order the suspension of the Obi of Otolokpo pending the outcome of police investigations.

  • Ensure that law enforcement agencies handle the matter transparently.

  • Publicly address the issue and reassure citizens that justice will prevail.

  • Demonstrate that traditional authority, political power, or social status will not shield anyone from accountability.

The organization warned that silence from the authorities raises concerns about the government’s commitment to justice and accountability.

Cross River Cited As Example

The group contrasted the situation in Delta State with developments in Cross River State, where police reportedly arrested a suspended lawmaker over domestic violence allegations, and the state House of Assembly moved to suspend him indefinitely pending investigation.

According to the statement, such actions show that no one should be above the law, urging Delta authorities to take similar decisive steps.

“The people of Delta State deserve a government that stands firmly for justice, protects victims, and upholds the rule of law,” the statement read.

The group concluded with the remark: “Justice delayed is justice denied.”

As of the time of filing this report, the Delta State Government had not issued an official response regarding the allegation.
