[JUST IN]: NIGERIAN HIGH COURT JUDGE CONFIRMED DEAD


The Judiciary in Ondo State has been thrown into mourning following the death of a High Court judge, Justice Bamidele Adeyeye.

The passing of the jurist was announced on Friday in Akure by the Chief Registrar of the state High Court, Ayodeji Akinsanya.

In a statement, Akinsanya expressed deep sorrow over the death of Adeyeye, describing him as a distinguished judge who served at High Court 5 in Akure.

According to the statement, the respected jurist passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

The judiciary described the late judge as a beacon of integrity, wisdom, and dedication to justice, noting that his years on the bench were marked by fairness, equity, and strict adherence to the rule of law.

The statement further noted that Adeyeye was widely respected by colleagues, members of the Bar, and the public for his humility, deep legal knowledge, and impartial approach to the dispensation of justice.

It added that his contributions to the development of the judiciary and advancement of justice in the state would remain indelible.

“The passing of Justice Adeyeye is not only a great loss to the judiciary but also to the entire state and Nigeria at large,” the statement read.

On behalf of judges, magistrates, and staff of the Ondo State Judiciary, the Chief Registrar extended condolences to the family of the late jurist and prayed for the strength to bear the loss.

Adeyeye was sworn in as a High Court judge in the Ondo State Judiciary on September 8, 2011.

Born on January 16, 1961, he previously founded a law firm, Fola Adeyeye & Co., in Okitipupa, located in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, before his appointment to the bench.
