The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the Chairman of its Birnin Kudu Local Government Chapter, Alhaji Lukman Wurno, over alleged misconduct.
The suspension was disclosed in an official statement issued by the party’s Local Government Secretary, Alhaji Lawan Ahmed. According to the statement, the decision followed allegations of misconduct leveled against Wurno.
The party directed Wurno to immediately stop parading himself as the PDP Local Government Chairman pending the outcome of further proceedings.
In the interim, the chapter has endorsed Alhaji Ibrahim Maigida Halimbe to serve as Acting Chairman until further directives are issued by the appropriate party authorities.
The statement emphasized that the action was taken in accordance with the party’s constitution and established disciplinary procedures, aimed at safeguarding unity, order, and internal discipline within the chapter.
It further stressed that the PDP leadership remains committed to upholding transparency and accountability at all levels of the party structure.
Party officials in the area have urged members to remain calm and continue supporting the PDP’s activities in Birnin Kudu. They assured supporters that necessary steps are being taken to strengthen the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
