The President’s phone conversation was disclosed in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu said he personally called Joshua to commiserate with him over the loss and to wish him a speedy recovery. According to him, Joshua confirmed that he is receiving the best available treatment at the hospital.
The President also spoke with Joshua’s mother, offering prayers and words of comfort, which she reportedly appreciated.
Tinubu further revealed that he contacted Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who was with Joshua at the hospital. The governor assured him that every necessary step is being taken to ensure the boxer receives maximum medical attention.
Earlier on Monday, in a message posted on his X handle from abroad, President Tinubu expressed deep sympathy to Joshua and his family over the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway accident.
He praised Joshua’s courage, discipline, and patriotism, describing him as a national pride, while praying for strength and quick recovery for him and for the repose of the souls of the departed.
Further details on Joshua’s recovery are expected in the coming days.
