[JUST IN]: Nigeria Losing Control To Foreign Powers —Naja’atu Mohammed

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign director, Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed, has said Nigeria is no longer being governed solely by its elected leadership, alleging that the country is increasingly under foreign influence.

Naja’atu, a Kano-based politician, made the claims during an interview with Arewa Source while speaking on Nigeria’s political direction, security challenges and international involvement in domestic affairs.

She warned that recent developments suggest a threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty, saying the nation is “losing control over its internal affairs.”

According to her, “It is only God that will continue to protect Nigeria and Nigerians… they have brought back the colonisation era that Nigeria and its people will not have freedom anymore.”

Comparing Nigeria with developments in Niger Republic, Mali and Burkina Faso, Naja’atu said those countries rejected foreign intervention, while alleging that Nigeria continues to rely on external actors.

She further claimed that since independence in 1960, Nigeria had resisted foreign military involvement until the current administration.

Alleging a loss of national control, she said, “Now Nigerians have lost their country to foreign countries. It is not Tinubu that is ruling Nigeria anymore, it is Donald Trump,” adding that Western powers were “re-colonising” Nigeria. Her comments represent her personal opinion and allegations, which have not been independently verified.

Naja’atu also linked her concerns to economic policy and taxation, alleging foreign influence in recently enacted tax laws.

Her remarks followed reports of United States airstrikes on militant targets in Sokoto State on December 25, carried out in coordination with Nigerian authorities as part of counterterrorism cooperation. Officials said the strikes targeted extremist elements and reported no confirmed civilian casualties.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had formally responded to Naja’atu Mohammed’s claims.
