The ex-wife of Lagos-based cleric Pastor Chris Okafor, Bessem Agnes Okafor, has levelled a series of serious allegations against the pastor, accusing him of infidelity during their marriage.
Her claims came hours after Pastor Okafor alleged that he had caught his former partner committing adultery — a claim that has sparked public reactions.
Speaking during a YouTube livestream with Aunty Adunni, Bessem said she left the marriage 14 years ago, alleging that the pastor had affairs and fathered children during the period they were married. She further claimed that some of the alleged relationships involved church members.
According to her, the marriage, which she said produced four children, ended due to what she described as repeated acts of infidelity and abuse. She also advised some church members to conduct DNA tests if they wished to verify her claims.
Bessem further alleged that:
-
Pastor Okafor had affairs with some deacons’ wives and choir members
-
He allegedly fathered children during their marriage
-
A former house help reportedly quit over alleged misconduct
-
A named church member allegedly moved in after she left
Pastor Okafor had earlier claimed that he caught his ex-wife committing adultery, a claim she strongly denied while stating that she — not him — left the marriage.
The allegations made by Bessem remain claims and have not been independently verified. As of the time of filing this report, Pastor Okafor has not issued a new public response to the latest statements beyond his earlier claim regarding alleged adultery.
The development has continued to generate strong reactions within church circles and on social media.
