Veteran entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has opened up on how his marriage has endured for over 46 years, crediting its longevity to deliberate effort and the ability to “manage many things” in the union.
Charly Boy made the disclosure in a post shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday.
The singer and Nollywood actor said many people assume he and his wife are “stupidly in love,” but stressed that successful marriages require continuous work and commitment.
According to him, marriage is not “made in heaven,” but is built through patience, management and perseverance.
He wrote that despite occasional moments of fatigue in the relationship, he continues to push through because he and his wife have resolved to stay together.
He said:
“When people see me and my wife of over 46 years, dem go think say we are stupidly in love. It’s not like that. Some say it’s good to marry your friend… Some say na so dem want their marriage to be.
“True true, no marriage is made in heaven. Successful unions require hard work, commitment and cultivation on earth. Marriage is a fragile thing wey fit crack easily.”
