The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has cautioned the United States government against assessing Nigeria’s current administration based on outdated information.
Bwala issued the warning on Monday while reacting to comments attributed to former U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly threatened a military strike on Nigeria over alleged Christian genocide.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News, Bwala questioned the U.S. position, noting that the same government had recently praised Nigeria’s efforts in combating terrorism.
He recalled that just three months ago, the U.S. commended Nigeria for the arrest of Usman Mohammed, also known as Khalid Al-Barnawi — leader of the Ansaru terrorist group and one of the world’s most wanted terrorists.
“The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria equally praised our government’s remarkable progress in the fight against terrorism,” Bwala stated.
“How then can the same government that acknowledged our success just months ago now take a contradictory position based on outdated reports and past events?” he asked.
Bwala stressed that it was unfair to judge President Tinubu’s administration using obsolete data, emphasizing that the government had demonstrated “clear commitment and tangible results in securing the nation.”
