[Video]: ₦70k Salary, ₦100k Light Bill! — Abia Residents Protest High Electricity Tariff

Frustrated by skyrocketing electricity bills, residents of Abia State took to the streets on Wednesday afternoon to protest against the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).

Protesters highlighted the glaring disparity between their modest incomes and the exorbitant electricity charges, with many citing monthly salaries of around ₦70,000 against bills exceeding ₦100,000.

The demonstrators called on EEDC and government authorities to review the billing system, describing the hikes as unfair and unsustainable for ordinary consumers.

As of now, there has been no official response from EEDC regarding the protest or the demands of the residents, who vow to continue their campaign until relief is provided.
