Reno Omokri Defends Tinubu, Says Nigerians Living Fake Lives Amid Economic Complaints

Social commentator and former presidential aide,
Reno Omokri, has weighed in on Nigeria’s ongoing economic debate, arguing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not be solely blamed for the nation’s economic challenges.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Omokri countered widespread criticism of the president, pointing to what he described as the hypocrisy of Nigerians who complain about hardship while maintaining extravagant lifestyles.

“Tinubu has destroyed Nigeria's economy! Nigeria is finished! Yet, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which costs $1,999, is completely sold out in Nigeria,” Omokri wrote.

He further challenged citizens to show the same energy they use in spending when it comes to paying taxes, stating that many Nigerians evade taxes yet expect the government to provide everything.

“Ask those who bought the phone to pay taxes, and you will hear stories. But they expect everything from a government they do not pay taxes to,” he added.

Omokri concluded his post by asserting that President Tinubu “did not finish Nigeria,” but rather exposed the false lifestyle of many Nigerians.

“All he finished is our fake life! We act as though we are poor when it comes to paying taxes, but we behave richly when it comes to blowing money,” he said.

Reno Omokri, known for his outspoken commentary on national issues, described himself as a “Gospeller, Deep Thinker, Table Shaker, and Ruffler of the Feathers of Obidents.” The former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has remained a prominent voice in political and social discourse, often stirring reactions with his controversial takes on governance and public behavior.
