Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, made his first public appearance in the United Kingdom on Wednesday, dispelling recent rumors about his health.
Edun was spotted at the O’DA Art Gallery booth during the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House, London. He was given a guided tour of the exhibition Lines of Spirit, which featured works by African artists Simon Ojeaga, Paul Majek, and Afeez Onakoya, exploring themes of form, rhythm, and transcendence within contemporary abstraction.
In a video shared by the gallery on Instagram, Edun appeared calm and cheerful, dressed in a long coat and scarf while viewing the artworks. The gallery welcomed him warmly, noting,

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Honourable Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to the O’DA Art Gallery booth… We had the privilege of walking him through our presentation.”
Edun’s appearance comes after reports earlier this month suggested that he had been flown abroad due to doctor-mandated rest in Abuja and would miss leading Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank–IMF meetings in New York. His presence in London appears to reassure the public regarding his health and wellbeing.
