The Federal Government, states, and local government councils have shared a total of N2.103 trillion as revenue from the Federation Account for September 2025.
This was disclosed in a communiqué issued on Friday after the October 2025 Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting held in Abuja, and signed by Bawa Mokwa, spokesperson of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).
The amount represents a slight drop from the N2.2 trillion shared in August 2025.
According to the communiqué, the N2.103 trillion distributable revenue comprised:
Statutory revenue: N1.239 trillion
Value Added Tax (VAT): N812.593 billion
Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL): N51.684 billion
FAAC disclosed that the total gross revenue for September stood at N3.054 trillion, from which N116.149 billion was deducted as cost of collection and N835.005 billion set aside for transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings.
The report showed that gross statutory revenue dropped to N2.128 trillion in September, compared to N2.838 trillionrecorded in August — a decline of N710.134 billion. However, VAT revenue rose to N872.630 billion, higher than the N722.619 billion recorded in August by N150.011 billion.
Breakdown of September Allocation
From the N2.103 trillion shared:
The Federal Government received N711.314 billion
State Governments received N727.170 billion
Local Government Councils got N529.954 billion
Oil-producing states received N134.956 billion as 13% derivation revenue
From the N1.239 trillion statutory revenue, the breakdown showed:
Federal Government – N581.672 billion
States – N295.032 billion
Local Governments – N227.457 billion
13% derivation – N134.956 billion
Out of the N812.593 billion VAT revenue:
Federal Government – N121.889 billion
States – N406.297 billion
Local Governments – N284.408 billion
From the N51.684 billion EMTL, the distribution was:
Federal Government – N7.753 billion
States – N25.842 billion
Local Governments – N18.089 billion
FAAC further reported that while Import Duty, VAT, and EMTL recorded significant increases in September, Companies Income Tax (CIT) and CET Levies declined. Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) saw a marginal increase, while Oil and Gas Royalty and Excise Duty slightly decreased.
