– Ex-Minister accuses Tinubu of weaponizing poverty and hardship
– Says Nigerians must unite under ADC coalition to rescue the nation
– Predicts Tinubu's fall in 2027 regardless of political manipulations
Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has predicted a decisive defeat for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections, insisting that even widespread manipulation won’t save the current administration.
Dalung made the explosive statement during a live appearance on New Central TV on Friday, where he criticized Tinubu’s leadership and called on Nigerians to "brace for battle."
“Tinubu Has Declared War Against Nigerians” — Dalung
“The government of President Bola Tinubu has declared war against the Nigerian people,” Dalung said. “It has weaponized poverty, hunger, and hardship while celebrating corruption, impunity, and injustice.”
He urged Nigerians not to lose hope, stating that political salvation lies in uniting under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition and taking back the country from what he described as anti-people governance.
“Even If His Son Heads INEC, He Will Still Lose”
In one of the most pointed remarks during the interview, Dalung said Tinubu’s defeat in 2027 is "inevitable," even if he fills key government roles with his family members.
“Even if the 36 state governors defect to APC… even if Tinubu appoints his son Seyi Tinubu as INEC chairman and his wife as Chief Justice of Nigeria, he will still be defeated,” Dalung stated.
He added that the only way forward is for opposition forces like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi to rally around the ADC-led coalition ahead of the next election.
ADC: A New Political Force?
Recall that the ADC coalition recently gained momentum with the emergence of David Mark as Interim National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
Political observers say the coalition’s rising influence poses a serious challenge to APC’s hold on power, especially amid growing economic hardship, inflation, and insecurity.
