Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has assured that the state remains safe for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members despite recent security concerns in some parts of the state.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream II orientation camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area on Tuesday, July 1, Alia said the government had taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of corps members.
The governor disclosed that additional security personnel have been deployed to vulnerable areas across the state to safeguard the lives and property of corps members throughout their service year.
“While the state has experienced some unprovoked attacks in recent times, we are not resting. We are committed to ending insecurity and ensuring peace,” Alia stated.
He also noted that his administration continues to collaborate with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the security challenges affecting some communities.
Alia urged corps members to proceed to their places of primary assignment without fear, assuring them of the government’s full support.
The governor also warned government agencies and private organisations against rejecting corps members posted to them, stressing that the policy of non-rejection remains in force and defaulters will be sanctioned.
“Any organisation that refuses to accept corps members will face strict penalties. The state government is serious about this directive,” he said.
