Atiku Abubakar Vows to Wage War on Corruption If Elected President

– Former Vice President hints at another presidential run

– Says corrupt individuals will be punished under his watch
– Active participation in ADC coalition sparks defection rumours

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly hinted at contesting the 2027 presidential election, vowing to lead a decisive war against corruption if elected.

In a video clip shared via his verified handle on X (formerly Twitter), Atiku spoke in Hausa, declaring that he would not spare anyone involved in corrupt practices.

“I swear to God, if elected, whoever steals or engages in any corruption-related activities, we will declare war against them and they must be punished,” the former vice president stated.

Atiku aligns with ADC coalition

Atiku, who ran as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023, is now playing a significant role within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, which is positioning itself as a formidable opposition ahead of 2027.

Although he has not officially announced his defection from the PDP, his growing influence and frequent appearance at ADC-led coalition events point to a shift in political allegiance.

The coalition recently appointed former Senate President David Mark as Interim National Chairman and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as Interim National Secretary — moves widely interpreted as signs of a major political restructuring.

Nigerians React to Atiku’s Anti-Corruption Vow

Social media users have expressed mixed reactions to Atiku’s promise, with some applauding the stance while others questioned his track record.

@ajegunle_news commented: “Same promises every election year. Let’s see actions this time.”
@truthspeakerng added: “If this coalition is serious, APC and PDP will finally face real competition.”
