Ifeanyi Chukwuka reports

The Nigerian military have barricaded the entire entrance of Oru East Local Government in Imo State, in search of persons suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, that gunned down three military officers during a gun duel with the military last week. An eye witness from one of the communities under the military siege who spoke to our correspondent under anonymity, noted that military Choppers have been hovering around the communities of Orie Okporo market, Ura-akata, isiakata, Umutanze etc, since Wednesday morning. He recalled how he escaped from the communities and revealed that his father, mother, and other relations are still trapped in the Community due to the heavy military presence in their community. According to him, he said that although, the military are conducting their activities very professional but insists that innocent people have already lost their lives in the debacle. He also appealed to authorities to prevail to the military authority to withdraw their Personnel so as to avert the repeat of Oyingbo genocide. He revealed that trouble started last week Thursday 14th January in Umutanze where he attended a burial ceremony and saw the heavy presence of the combined team of Nigeria military and Police in search of the corpse of their colleagues that were killed by suspected members of ESN. And right in his very eyes, there was a gun battle with the Security operatives which cost the lives of three Nigeria soldiers. And was the day of their burial ceremony. The next reinforcement was the siege and killings of the innocent people because the so called ESN could not be seen.223 Comments4 SharesLikeCommentShare
