A new video circulating on social media has shown some of the suspected kidnappers arrested during the rescue operation that led to the freedom of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
The footage, which surfaced on Saturday, captures members of the tactical team deployed by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) carrying out parts of the operation that resulted in the successful rescue of the victims after weeks in captivity.
The video was shared on X by social media user Deji Adesogan and has since attracted widespread attention online.
The development comes after the Presidency confirmed that security operatives rescued all the abducted pupils and teachers during a coordinated operation in Oyo State.
Presidential spokesman and Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed on Friday that eight suspected kidnappers were arrested, while several others were neutralised during the operation.
According to Onanuga, the arrested suspects are currently being held in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation.
He added that the relevant security agencies would provide a comprehensive account of the operation and other details surrounding the rescue.
The successful operation ended the victims' prolonged captivity and has been widely praised as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and terrorism in the country.
