NDC Demands Immediate Sack of Gbajabiamila Over ‘Fake Agency’ Scandal

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linked to the controversial purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The opposition party also demanded his suspension from office, insisting that an independent investigation be conducted into the matter.

“Suspension Needed For Transparent Investigation” – NDC

In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party said the controversy surrounding the alleged agency raises serious concerns about transparency and accountability in government.

The NDC argued that Gbajabiamila’s continued stay in office could compromise any ongoing investigation.

Allegations Over Budget, Accounts And Staff Approvals

The party claimed that despite being described as a non-existent agency, the PFIPC allegedly secured budgetary provisions in the 2026 federal budget and opened multiple accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), including domiciliary, pound sterling, and Treasury Single Accounts (TSA).

It questioned how such an agency could gain access to government financial systems without official approval, raising concerns about possible institutional breaches involving key government offices.

The opposition also cited reports that the Office of the Head of Civil Service allegedly approved 314 staff positions for the agency.

“₦27bn Takeoff Demand Allegation”

The NDC further referenced allegations made by Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the PFIPC.

Adeyemi reportedly alleged that he secured his appointment through financial arrangements involving senior government officials and claimed that Gbajabiamila allegedly demanded 48 percent of the agency’s takeoff grant, valued at over ₦27 billion.

The party described the claims as disturbing and indicative of a wider corruption concern that must be thoroughly investigated.

Death And Attack Allegations Raise Concerns

The NDC also pointed to the alleged death of Babatunde Tanimola, described as a key intermediary in the matter, who reportedly died in a fire incident at a hotel in Utako, Abuja, in October 2025.

It further cited claims of an attempted assassination on Adeyemi along the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway and allegations that powerful interests were trying to silence him.

Call For Independent Probe

The opposition party called on President Tinubu to establish an independent investigative panel to probe all aspects of the controversy, including alleged budget allocations, account openings, staff recruitment approvals, and financial transactions linked to the PFIPC.

It also urged anti-graft agencies, including the EFCC, ICPC, and the Nigeria Police Force, to immediately commence a comprehensive investigation.

The NDC insisted that Adeyemi should be placed under witness protection and that all individuals found culpable, regardless of status, must be prosecuted.

According to the party, the allegations are too serious to be dismissed without a full and transparent investigation, adding that Nigerians deserve full accountability from public office holders and institutions.
