Fear Grips Ogun Community as Residents Allege Kidnappers, Yahoo Boys Have Taken Over Kampala Odo Hideout

Tension is mounting in Olambe, Ogun State, as residents have raised alarm over what they describe as a worsening security situation around the Kampala Odo area, alleging that the location has become a hideout for suspected kidnappers, thieves, internet fraudsters, and other criminal elements.

The area, situated beside the Deeper Life Campground in Olambe, has reportedly become a source of fear for many residents, who are now calling on security agencies and the Ogun State Government to launch an urgent security operation.

According to members of the community, residents now avoid passing through the area, especially at night, due to increasing reports of suspicious movements, theft and other alleged criminal activities.

Some residents further claimed that innocent people may have been attacked or killed in the vicinity, with rumours suggesting that nearby river areas could have been used to conceal evidence of criminal acts.

However, these allegations have not been independently verified, and community members are urging law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the facts.

Residents Demand Immediate Police Action

The community appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun and relevant security agencies to treat the matter as an emergency before the security situation deteriorates further.

Residents also called on the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Ajuwon Police Division to intensify surveillance across the area through regular patrols, intelligence gathering and raids on suspected criminal hideouts.

According to the residents, increased police visibility would help restore public confidence and ensure that law-abiding citizens can move freely without fear.

They also pledged to cooperate fully with security agencies by providing credible intelligence capable of assisting ongoing investigations.

Community Blames Bad Roads, Neglect

Beyond the security concerns, community leaders lamented the poor condition of roads across Olambe, arguing that the deteriorating infrastructure has made effective policing more difficult and encouraged criminal activities.

They insisted that while the deplorable road network poses operational challenges, it should not prevent security agencies from carrying out their constitutional responsibilities of protecting lives and property.

Residents expressed hope that swift intervention by the Ogun State Government and security agencies would restore peace, improve security and prevent further criminal activities within the community.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Ogun State Government nor the Ogun State Police Command had officially responded to the allegations.
