Six d£ad as tankers, trucks and cars collide on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

At least six people have been confirmed dead following a devastating multi-vehicle collision involving several tankers, trucks, and other vehicles on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Reports indicate that the crash involved four tankers and two other vehicles, leading to a major traffic gridlock that brought movement on both sides of the busy highway to a standstill. Many commuters were reportedly stranded for hours as emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage and assist victims.

Witnesses at the scene described the incident as one of the worst accidents recorded on the expressway in recent months, with rescue officials battling difficult conditions to reach trapped victims.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the deceased, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the collision. Emergency agencies and traffic management officials were deployed to the area to restore order and ease congestion.

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway remains one of Nigeria’s busiest highways and has witnessed several fatal accidents over the years, raising continued concerns about road safety, vehicle maintenance, and adherence to traffic regulations.

Motorists have been advised to exercise caution and consider alternative routes where possible as authorities continue recovery and traffic management efforts.
