The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the killing of Ajayi Busayo Aderogba, an indigene of Esa-Oke in Obokun Local Government Area, describing the incident as condemnable and horrifying.
In a statement issued on June 24, 2026, by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC called on the Nigeria Police Force to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Aderogba’s death and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The party emphasized that every citizen’s life is valuable and protected under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stressing that only a thorough police investigation can determine the true cause of the controversial killing and address the various speculations surrounding the incident.
While expressing sympathy to the family, friends, and residents of Esa-Oke over the loss, the APC also criticized Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for allegedly making premature comments linking the incident to opposition figures before the conclusion of any police investigation.
According to the party, the governor’s remarks were hasty and capable of inciting tensions, arguing that criminal investigations remain the constitutional responsibility of law enforcement agencies.
The APC further appealed to the Inspector-General of Police to ensure peace and order in the state, alleging that inflammatory political statements could contribute to unrest ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The party maintained that it remains committed to peaceful political engagement and rejected any association with violence or criminal activities. It also defended its leaders and members, including former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, governorship candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and other party officials, describing them as advocates of peace and lawful conduct.
The APC concluded by urging all stakeholders to allow security agencies to carry out their investigations without interference and prayed for strength and comfort for the family of the deceased during this difficult period.
Public Warning: Authorities and community leaders are urging residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information while investigations continue. Citizens are encouraged to reject cultism, political violence, and all forms of criminal activities. Say No to Cultism. Say No to Violence. Peace and justice remain the foundation of a safe society.
