The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has secured its first polling unit victory in the ongoing Area Council Elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The opposition coalition clinched Polling Unit 076 located at Sani Abacha Estate, Wuse Zone 4, where the ADC candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Moses Paul, cast his vote.
The election at the polling unit recorded low voter turnout, with only 10 ballots cast. Of the total votes, ADC secured 7, APC garnered 2, while one vote was declared invalid.
Earlier in the day, Paul had alleged that agents of his party were being intimidated. He also attributed the low turnout to movement restrictions, which he said discouraged many residents from participating in the exercise.
The Area Council Elections are ongoing across polling units in the FCT amid reports of low participation in several locations.
