The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has again reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, by ₦20 per litre.
Checks at several NNPC retail outlets in Abuja on Monday showed that the state-owned oil company now sells petrol at ₦815 per litre, down from the previous ₦835 per litre.
According to reliable company sources, the fresh price adjustment followed internal directives approved on Sunday evening.
The new pump price was sighted at NNPC mega stations located in Wuse Zones 4 and 6, Keffi–Abuja Road, and the Kubwa Expressway, among other outlets across the capital city.
Despite the latest reduction, NNPC’s price still remains ₦79 higher than the ₦739 per litre currently offered at MRS filling stations nationwide. MRS is being supplied by the Dangote Refinery, which has continued to drive recent price cuts within the downstream oil sector.
This development comes just weeks after NNPC, on December 19, 2025, slashed petrol price by ₦80, bringing it then to ₦835 per litre. That earlier reduction followed intensified market competition after the Dangote Refinery reduced its gantry price to ₦699 per litre, sparking a price war among marketers.
The latest cut is expected to further intensify competition in the sector as consumers continue to anticipate additional downward reviews in pump prices across the country.
