[JUST IN]: Bode George Calls Wike–Makinde Rift ‘Embarrassing’

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has described the ongoing rift between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as embarrassing and unhealthy for the party.

The two former allies have recently been locked in a war of words amid the PDP’s leadership crisis, drawing national attention to the deepening internal wrangling within the party.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Bode George appealed to both leaders to exercise restraint and resolve their differences amicably.

“I want to advise them. Enough of these shenanigans. In politics, whatever you want to do within your system, you do it,” he said, urging them to de-escalate tensions in the interest of the party.

Meanwhile, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has claimed that Governor Makinde is aggrieved because President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not offer him a ministerial slot.

Wike, who spoke in Port Harcourt on Monday while responding to allegations made by Makinde, said the G-5 group of PDP governors had met with President Tinubu over the matter, and the President promised to look into it.

According to Wike, Makinde’s dissatisfaction stems from not being included in the federal cabinet, insisting that “you could see the anger in him” over the issue.

He recounted that during discussions, the President acknowledged that “certain factors” might not have been considered and assured that “something has to be done.”

The minister also referenced past political discussions within the G-5 bloc, alleging that Makinde openly resisted comments about supporting President Tinubu for a second term.

The development has further highlighted widening divisions within the PDP as senior figures continue to trade accusations, even as party elders call for calm and internal reconciliation.
