Union Bank Deepens Media Relations with Informal Mixer in Lagos
Union Bank of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening relationships with the media through an informal meet-and-greet event held at The Stallion Plaza, its headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

The session, which took place at SpaceNXT, the bank’s co-creation hub for innovators and creators, brought together top media professionals and members of Union Bank’s leadership team for a relaxed evening of conversation and networking.

Unlike a traditional press briefing, the gathering was designed as a casual platform to foster personal connections, mutual understanding, and collaboration between the bank and its media partners.

Senior executives in attendance included Taiwo Shote, Executive Director, Corporate Banking (Lagos and West); Olufunmilola Aluko, Chief Brand and Marketing Officer; and Tosin Ibikunle, Head of Strategy and Planning.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Aluko highlighted the bank’s enduring partnership with the media throughout its 108-year history, describing the session as an opportunity to connect “beyond deadlines and formal statements.”

“Union Bank has been around for 108 years, and we’ve seen it all – from telegram banking to digital wallets, from handwritten ledgers to AI-driven analytics. But one constant has remained: the media,” she said. “We wanted to create a space that is unhurried and human, where bankers and journalists can connect as people who share a deep commitment to truth, storytelling, and impact.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Ibikunle noted that Union Bank has made significant strides in enhancing its systems and customer experience as it prepares for its next phase of growth.

“As we roll out new initiatives, we look forward to partnering with the media to tell our story with clarity, accuracy, and impact,” he said.

The event featured a guided tour of Stallion Plaza and a networking session, underscoring the bank’s dedication to open dialogue and authentic engagement with stakeholders.

Union Bank reiterated its commitment to transparency, trust, and collaboration, emphasizing that sustained partnerships with the media are vital to advancing its mission and contributing to Nigeria’s economic progress.
