Mbaise Secondary School Old Boys Hold Grand Banquet and Awards Night in Abuja


The Mbaise Secondary School Old Boys Association (MSSOBA), Abuja Chapter, held a glamorous Banquet and Awards Night on Saturday, October 18, 2025, bringing together generations of alumni in a night of nostalgia, recognition, and celebration.

The well-attended event, chaired by the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs (Rtd.)DCG Julius Nwagwu, was described as a “gathering of great sons of Mbaise and our fatherland,” showcasing the enduring bond shared by graduates of the historic institution.

A Reunion of Great Minds

The event provided a rare opportunity for old classmates — many of whom left the school as far back as the 1970s — to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate their collective achievements.

Attendees included prominent public servants, retired senior government officials, entrepreneurs, and professionals from various sectors who have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally.

Reflecting on the occasion, one of the attendees described it as “a unifying and heartwarming moment,” recalling the school’s trademark white uniform and its legacy of discipline, academic excellence, and moral integrity.

“We reminisced on our youthful days and the culture of excellence that marked Mbaise Secondary School. The school truly shaped us into who we are today,” he said.

Honouring Distinguished Old Boys

The evening also featured a special awards segment recognizing outstanding alumni for their service and leadership. Honorees included:

  1. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, Member representing Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency.

  2. Sir Gordian Ihuoma, immediate past Chairman, MSSOBA Abuja Chapter.

  3. Dr. Barr. Chuks Osuji, Director of Procurement, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The awards celebrated their professional achievements, commitment to community service, and continued support for the association.

Commendations for Leadership and Planning

The event’s success was credited to the meticulous planning of the Organising Committee, chaired by Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, FAS, former Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

Special recognition was also given to the Chairman of MSSOBA AbujaAIG Dr. Charles Ugomuoh (Rtd.), psc, for his exemplary leadership and dedication to sustaining the association’s vision.

“AIG Ugomuoh has steered the ship with zeal and commitment, ensuring MSSOBA remains a strong symbol of unity and progress among Mbaise sons,” a member noted.

Keeping the Legacy Alive

The celebration reinforced the association’s commitment to mentorship, youth development, and giving back to their alma mater. Members reaffirmed their shared motto:

MSS Never Fails.”

The night concluded with renewed pledges to uphold the values of discipline, service, and excellence that continue to define Mbaise Secondary School and its proud alumni.
