Born on April 18, 1947, into the royal family of Agata Shokun Onilegbale in Isale Eko, Lagos, Akinyele began his career as a draughtsman before venturing into business.

He sharpened his entrepreneurial skills as a Trainee Business Associate at Isiaka Rabiu and Sons in Kano under the mentorship of the late business mogul Alhaji Isiaka Rabiu.

Over the years, Akinyele became a mentor to several rising entrepreneurs — including the future BUA Group Chairman — before going on to build his own successful manufacturing enterprises.

A devout Muslim and respected philanthropist, Alhaji Akinyele was known for his unwavering support for small businesses and generous contributions to educational, religious, and humanitarian causes.

He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Islamic funeral prayers will be held at the Community Central Mosque, Alausa Secretariat, followed by interment at the Abari Cemetery, Lagos Island.
