Swedish actor and musician
Björn Andrésen has died at the age of 70. Andrésen rose to international fame as a teenager in the 1970s following his breakout role in
Luchino Visconti’s 1971 classic, Death in Venice, where he played the character
Tadzio at just 15 years old. At the film’s premiere, Visconti famously described him as
“the most beautiful boy in the world” — a phrase that followed him throughout his life.

His story was later revisited in a 2021 documentary titled
The Most Beautiful Boy in the World, co-directed by
Kristian Petri and
Kristina Lindström. Petri confirmed the actor’s death to a Swedish newspaper, according to
The Hollywood Reporter.
As of now, no cause of death has been disclosed.
In his later years, Andrésen appeared in smaller film roles, including a notable cameo in Ari Aster’s 2019 horror hit Midsommar, starring Florence Pugh.
Tributes have begun pouring in from fans and colleagues mourning the loss of the actor whose ethereal beauty and haunting screen presence left an indelible mark on cinema.
May his soul rest in peace.
