Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has approved the promotion of his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, to the position of Senior Special Assistant (SSA).
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, and obtained by Naija News.
According to the statement, the promotion is in recognition of Shaibu’s loyalty, commitment, and selfless service to the Waziri Adamawa over the years.
Shaibu, who was first appointed in 2018, has played a vital role in managing Atiku’s media communications and public relations. A seasoned journalist, teacher, and crisis communication expert, Shaibu boasts nearly three decades of experience across the fields of media, politics, and public affairs.
Atiku Abubakar, a prominent businessman and politician, currently serves as a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He previously served as Vice President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 under President Olusegun Obasanjo and has been a recurring figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, having contested for the presidency six times— in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023.
Shaibu’s elevation is seen as a mark of confidence from the former vice president, who continues to consolidate his media and political team ahead of future engagements.
