1. Prof. Amupitan was born on April 25, 1967, in Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State. Aged 58, he brings decades of academic and legal experience to his new national role.

2. Amupitan completed his primary and secondary education before 1982 and proceeded to the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, where he studied from 1982 to 1984. He later attended the University of Jos, earning an LLB in 1987, an LLM in 1993, and a PhD in 2007.

3. After completing his legal studies, he attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Bar in 1988, officially beginning his professional career in law.

4. His expertise spans key areas of corporate and public law. Amupitan specializes in Company Law, Law of Evidence, Corporate Governance, and Privatisation Law—fields that have positioned him as an authority in both academic and practical legal circles.

5. He has built a distinguished career at the University of Jos. Joining the University of Jos in 1989, Amupitan rose through the ranks and currently serves as the institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).

His previous roles include Head of the Department of Public Law (2006–2008), Dean of the Faculty of Law (2008–2014), and Chairman of the Committee of Deans and Directors (2012–2014).

6. He is also a university leader beyond UNIJOS. In addition to his roles at the University of Jos, Amupitan is the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Osun State, reflecting his broad influence in higher education governance.

7. He achieved the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)

8. He had his National Youth Service Corps in Bauchi. During his NYSC year (1988–1989), Amupitan served at the Bauchi State Publishing Corporation, laying the foundation for his lifelong engagement in public service and communication.

9. He has served on several notable boards, companies and national councils. His board memberships include Integrated Dairies Limited, Vom, and Riss Oil Limited, Abuja (1996–2004).

He also served on the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and the Council of Legal Education (2008–2014).

10. He is a prolific legal author and scholar. Amupitan has published several authoritative legal texts used across Nigerian universities and law faculties.

His notable works include Corporate Governance: Models and Principles (2008), Documentary Evidence in Nigeria (2008), Evidence Law: Theory and Practice in Nigeria (2013), Principles of Company Law (2013), and Introduction to the Law of Trust in Nigeria (2014).
