Take-It-Back Movement Plans Protest For Thursday, Demands End To Rising Killings

TIB Movement Declares Statewide Protest Over Insecurity in Kwara

Ilorin, Kwara State – July 9, 2025 — The Kwara State chapter of the Take-It-Back (TIB) movement has announced a statewide peaceful protest scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, in response to the escalating insecurity across the state, particularly in the northern and southern regions.

In a statement signed by the State Secretary, Olumoh Ismail, the movement condemned what it described as a growing reign of terror by terrorist groups and armed bandits, especially in Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas in Kwara North, and Ifelodun LGA in Kwara South.

“It is no longer news that terrorist groups and bandits have taken over most forests and highways,” the statement read. “People are being slaughtered in their homes and on the roads, yet no single perpetrator has been brought to justice.”

TIB accused the state government of inaction in the face of repeated killings and kidnappings, alleging that vast forest areas and major roads have become unsafe for residents.

Calling on all “well-meaning Kwarans” to join the protest, the movement urged citizens to demand accountability and urgent intervention from the state authorities to restore peace and security.

“We call on all Kwarans to stand up and make their voices heard,” the group said. “Join us on July 10 as we march to demand justice, security, and an end to the bloodshed.”

The TIB movement reiterated its commitment to standing with oppressed citizens and confronting what it called systemic neglect and insecurity.
