Breaking: Three-Storey Building Collapses on Lagos Island — Rescue Operations Ongoing

three-storey building has collapsed in the heart of Lagos Island, leaving residents in shock and prompting a swift emergency response. The incident occurred at 2/4 Asesi Lane, off Sasi Lane (SASI Palace), along Adeniji Adele Road, on Thursday morning.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, revealing that four individuals have so far been rescued from the debris and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

The cause of the collapse remains uncertain, and an investigation is expected to be launched by state authorities.

Rescue Teams on Ground

Emergency responders quickly mobilized to the site. Agencies currently participating in rescue operations include:

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as local residents joined security and medical personnel in efforts to remove rubble and search for possible victims trapped underneath.

Authorities have cordoned off the area to ensure safety and facilitate smooth rescue operations.

LASEMA and other agencies have yet to release an official statement on the number of occupants in the building at the time of collapse or whether there were casualties beyond the four rescued.

The Lagos State Government has urged residents to stay clear of the area while rescue efforts continue and has promised to provide updates as more information becomes available.
