Nigerian Police Transfer 'Enenche Enenche' to Keffi Prison Amid Cyberbullying Trial

Abuja, Nigeria
– Obonyilo Peter Enenche, widely known as 'Enenche Enenche', has been transferred by the Nigerian police from their Abuja station to Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State, following his arrest on Thursday.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Enenche Enenche was last seen on Thursday at the birthday celebration of Senator Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader representing Benue South Senatorial District. He was subsequently arrested and spent Thursday night at the Zone 7 Police Command Headquarters in Abuja.

"They have taken Enenche Enenche to Keffi Prison from the police station," a source familiar with the matter told SaharaReporters on Friday. "He was taken from Zone 7 police headquarters, where he slept, to Keffi New Prison on Friday."

Enenche Enenche is currently facing trial on allegations of cyberbullying and cyberstalking against Dr. Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja.

Background to the Arrest and Legal Proceedings:

The transfer to Keffi Prison comes amidst ongoing legal proceedings where Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Iyanna of the Wuse Zone 6 Magistrate Court in the Federal Capital Territory had on Thursday, June 26, 2025, ordered Enenche's surety to show cause why the bail bond should not be forfeited or why he should not be remanded in prison due to the defendant's failure to appear in court.

This order was issued during the resumed hearing of a criminal defamation suit filed by Dr. Paul Enenche against Enenche Enenche and a former Dunamis pastor, Abraham Daniel. The Inspector General of Police is prosecuting the case.

Defense counsel, Dr. S. M. Oyeghe, objected to the application, arguing that the court's procedure was improper, especially given that Enenche's bail had already been revoked and an arrest warrant issued. Oyeghe contended it was the prosecution's responsibility to account for his whereabouts, not the surety's. Despite the objection, Magistrate Iyanna proceeded with the order for the surety to show cause.

The matter has been adjourned to July 29, 2025, for further hearing, where complainants Pastor Paul Enenche and Paul Adama are expected to testify.

Previous Judicial Disputes:

Prior to the court's recent order, the defendants had filed two separate petitions against Magistrate Iyanna with the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, alleging abuse of power and judicial compromise. They also filed a motion for the magistrate's recusal, citing bias and an alleged affinity with Pastor Paul Enenche, but this motion was refused.

SaharaReporters previously reported that the prosecution, on March 21, filed a motion for the revocation of Enenche Enenche's bail, accusing him of issuing press releases and writing petitions against the Magistrate for bias in the case.

On May 28, Magistrate Iyanna revoked Enenche Enenche's bail for violating his bail conditions. In his ruling, Magistrate Iyanna emphasized the binding nature of court orders and the need for strict compliance. "Hence, I must state that an order of Court made within the plentitude of power of the Court to make and which is clear, precise and direct must be obeyed and cannot be regarded as one made in vain by any of the parties and regrettably in such very strong and extremely offensive and intemperate language," he had ruled.

Enenche Enenche had previously expressed concerns about the Magistrate's pursuit of his surety despite the earlier bail revocation. A source close to the case described the situation as potentially "vindictive" and "oppression."
