- FCTA Workers Barricade Abuja Complex, Demand Minister Wike's Removal Over Unpaid Wages and Poor Conditions
Abuja (Naija Blog) – Tensions escalated at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Complex in Abuja on Monday as workers from various departments staged a protest, barricading the entrance and demanding the immediate removal of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The protesting staff members cited severe neglect of their welfare under Wike's leadership, including unpaid wages, delayed promotions, lack of training, and poor working conditions. Many of the workers, visibly frustrated, held placards and chanted protest songs, insisting they could no longer endure the ongoing hardship.
A video published by News Central TV captured the scene as protesters converged early in the day to press home their demands.
According to the report, the workers accused the minister of worsening their situation since assuming office, noting that their agitation is also tied to unpaid wage award arrears and the absence of basic work tools necessary for daily operations.
“We are being denied our rights and dignity as government workers,” one protester said. “There has been no commitment to our welfare.”
As the protest continues, there has been no official response from the FCT Minister’s office at the time of filing this report.
